可穿戴式白光LED

台湾国立交通大学已成功开发出一款柔性高效白光LED,可用于可穿戴式显示器及曲面或柔性电视屏幕等非平面。该LED由已有技术制造而成,故很容易让他人基于此平台复制和建立。
台湾国立交通大学副教授Chien-Chung Lin 指出:“相比有机发光二极管,该柔性LED的设计由于成本低、寿命长及效率高而具有极大吸引力。 此外,所有这种设计的相关技术目前都是可用的。” Chien-Chung Lin教授、Hao-Chung Kuo教授及其研究团队还在《光学快讯》--由光学学会(OSA)出版的一本杂志--上发表了关于此项研究的论文。尽管科学家们之前的工作已经涉及到传统氮化镓发光二极管,但这仍然是该团队研发的第一款柔性LED。
研究者们称,现有的LED设备主要从两种材料获得其柔韧性,分别是聚酰亚胺和聚二甲基硅氧烷。为了构建它,Lin和他的同事们先用铜箔屏蔽胶带覆盖聚酰亚胺基板。在所谓的倒装芯片接合的过程中(较传统引线接合可减少热阻并导致更高的散热),他们安装了81颗尺寸为1.125mm× 1.125mm的蓝色LED芯片在铜箔上。
为了提供一种暖白黄光,研究人员然后加入了另外一层已混合并旋涂聚二甲基硅氧烷或PDMS的黄色荧光膜,这是一种广泛使用的聚硅氧烷基有机聚合物。由于其具有高度透明性、稳定性和灵活性,所以选择了它。最终的膜尺寸为5cm× 5cm,然而并没有合理限制膜的大小。
研究人员为测试其耐用性而将此设备运行了标准的1000小时,发现其辐射衰减仅为5%。在对其做弯曲试验时,发现它可运用在可穿戴设备中。用1.5cm半径弯曲的曲率来测试时,它保留了其功率输出。另外,也有每瓦120流明的光效。
Lin说道:“由于这些器件在目前技术下都是可用的,组合后的可靠性非常好。大多数新工艺或材料需要一个漫长的过程来验证其可靠性,但我们的设计只使用现有的零件就可避免这个问题。”
